We are proud to be bringing our two decades of foster care, adoption and family strengthening experience to the Northeast Communities beginning in Greater Philadelphia and New Jersey. Our goal is to use our expertise in child welfare to work in collaboration with existing local agencies to provide an immediate cost-free response to a family in crisis while creating an additional safety net for Jewish children who are at risk of abuse or neglect.

Foster Care and Adoption Program

Unlike traditional foster care programs around the country that only care for children by referral and funding from the state, JAFCO believes that the care of a child from our community is the responsibility of our Jewish community. Therefore, in addition to court ordered placements, we will accept children who are referred by their family members when the family is in crisis and the children are at risk of abuse, neglect or abandonment. JAFCO was created 25 years ago to fill an unmet need in the Jewish community and as a Jewish community it is also our pleasure, our privilege and our responsibility to also serve any child or family in need regardless of their cultural or religious background. JAFCO will provide ongoing support, supervision and training to our foster and adoptive parents and all needed support services to the children, birth parents and family members.

The JAFCO Life Skills and Improv Fun Experience (LIFE) program is designed for children developmental disabilities. Through exercises, games and role plays based in improvisational theatre, students will learn life and social skills while laughing, having fun and making new friends!

The STAR Group (Siblings Together are Remarkable) is a support group, facilitated by a Licensed Social Worker, that provides typical siblings of children with developmental disabilities a safe space to talk about their feelings with other children who share their experience.

JAFCO offers free support services to families facing challenges that impact the children in the home. After completing an intake, families are eligible for in-home services and 24-hour on call support.
