Who do we serve?

JAFCO is committed to serving all children, from birth to age 22, who have been diagnosed with a developmental disability including Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida or Prader Willi.

Our campus is centrally located in Broward County, just minutes from the Sawgrass Expressway in Sunrise, FL to provide convenient access to families throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach Counties, and beyond.

If your child’s diagnosis is not one of the above listed conditions, or if you are located outside of South Florida or have questions about fees and services, please call us at (954) 315-7033 to see how we may best serve you, your child and your family.

Family Support

JAFCO is committed to lifelong success, for you, your child and your family. Treatment interventions, enrichment activities and family support services are tailored specifically for your family’s individual needs related to the care of a child with a developmental disability.

Families are seen immediately by our professional staff who will provide you with an assessment of your family’s needs and to assist in developing an individualized plan for services.

Parents are provided with continued training to assist with a full understanding your child’s diagnosis, treatment recommendations and explanation of the resources offered at JAFCO and throughout the community. A full array of support groups and counseling for moms, dads, couples and siblings is offered by qualified professionals to assist in creating a full network of support centered on your family’s needs.

Child Enrichment Services

Too often, children with developmental disabilities don’t have the opportunity to engage in social and recreational activities with their peers. We recognize how important these activities are in your child’s life as a means to learn social and life skills, build self-esteem, make new friends and just have fun.

Your child will be welcome to participate in appropriate enrichment programs such as:

  • SOCIAL SKILLS GROUPS offering structured activities focused on specific skills, such as social language, appropriate play and interaction with peers.
  • Our LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM, which addresses the skills needed for children to transition into independent adults and includes home management skills (cooking, cleaning, laundry), money management skills and employment readiness skills.
  • VARIOUS CLUBS based on your child’s interests, and featuring fun activities that promote socialization, communication and motor skills including Lego’s, Video Games, Computers and more.
  • A broad range of INDOOR AND OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES, including art, computers, music, drama, dance, sports, gym, playground, yoga, photography and more.

Respite Services

Many parents of children with developmental disabilities report feelings of isolation and miss engaging in social and recreational activities. We understand that all of your focus is on your child, but parents and caregivers also need time to relax and renew, in order avoid placing further stress on themselves and each other.

Whether you need four hours, a full day or even a full two weeks at one time, our respite services allow parents and caregivers a much needed opportunity to relax or spend quality time with friends and family, knowing that their child is safe and having fun.

Therapeutic Services

Ongoing therapy is crucial in helping individuals with developmental disabilities to be successful in their daily lives. Continued therapeutic care can encourage the development of functional skills, minimize problem behaviors, and enhance communication and mobility. These services not only transform the life of the child, but can transform the dynamic of the entire family. Most insurance providers are accepted for therapeutic services.

Your child will have access to a full range of therapeutic services designed to meet the needs of children with developmental disabilities, including:

  • SPEECH-LANGUAGE THERAPY
  • OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
  • PHYSICAL THERAPY
  • BEHAVIOR THERAPY
  • PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS
